In a time of national turmoil and racial injustice (2020), Dr. Donn Schaefer and the University of Utah School of Music started the initiative Harmonic Revolution: Music for Change to help us find answers to the question “What can we as musicians do to change the world?” The initiative's modest response was to create new compositions that would be shared freely around the globe. In programming this music, it is hoped that listeners and performers might ask, “What can I do to make the world better?” These are two pieces from what the initiative hopes will be many more as people take up the musical challenge to create and share. As Dr. Donn Schaefer wrote a long time ago: "Love each other, celebrate each other, learn together," perhaps are the answers to the Harmonic Revolution: Music for Change's question.
